Medical Marijuana may help with MRSA infections

If you or someone you care about is dealing with MRSA infection, you should know that medical marijuana can help heal MRSA

Study Shows Cannabinoids May Be Useful Against Drug-Resistant Staph Infections"

Sept. 4, 2008 -- Chemicals in marijuana may be useful in fighting MRSA, a kind of staph bacterium that is resistant to certain antibiotics.

Researchers in Italy and the U.K. tested five major marijuana chemicals called cannabinoids on different strains of MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). All five showed germ-killing activity against the MRSA strains in lab tests. Some synthetic cannabinoids also showed germ-killing capability. The scientists note the cannabinoids kill bacteria in a different way than traditional antibiotics, meaning they might be able to bypass bacterial resistance."

"According to a new study, published August 6, 2008 in the Journal of Natural Products, cannabis has powerful antibiotic properties against several forms of MRSA strains, “of clinical relevance.”

Cannabis plant extracts can effectively fight drug-resistant bacteria.
Scientists Say Substances Derived From Cannabis Could Outdo Conventional Antibiotics In Killing Some Bacteria."

"Substances harvested from cannabis plants could soon outshine conventional antibiotics in the escalating battle against drug-resistant bacteria. The compounds, called cannabinoids, appear to be unaffected by the mechanism that superbugs like MRSA use to evade existing antibiotics. Scientists from Italy and the United Kingdom, who published their research in the Journal of Natural Products last month, say that cannabis-based creams could also be developed to treat persistent skin infections."

Cannabinoids kill hospital superbug MRSA

“Chemicals found in marijuana called Cannabinoids may prove useful in the fight against the antibiotic-resistant superbug MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), new research suggests.

Results of a study by researchers in Italy and the UK has revealed that the five major cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant are effective against different strains of MRSA. Two of the cannabinoids tested are nonpsychotropic, which means that they do not possess the mood-altering properties associated with marijuana. Furthermore, the researchers found that the cannabinoids kill bacteria in a different way to traditional antibacterial drugs, thus meaning that MRSA may not be able to develop resistance against them.”

So what can we learn from this? Wisdom dictates that we use medical marijuana to address this and other health issues that medical grade and higher of hemp heal.  The government needs to stop the drug war so people can be free to use marijuana to solve our problems, beginning with our health and expanding to include our world’s problems with the economy, environment, food, water, energy, textile and building materials… just to name a few.

An example of how hemp prohibition is wrong is found in the book HEMP FOR VICTORY: THE WONDER HERB by Richard M. Davis.  Peter McWilliams was murdered by the government denying him medical marijuana which he was using to help him manage his vomiting from chemo treatments.

"The prosecutors made it clear there was no room for compassion in federal drug law and denied the Judge's request.  Five days later Peter died because, by court order, he did not have the hemp medicine he needed to manage his nausea.  Murder by government."

For more on the work of Peter McWilliams check out Peter's Page and read his book Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do: The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in Our Free Country

Lord, please don't let the same thing happen to Marc Emery, a heroic Canadian hemp seed merchant and broadcaster and publisher, who contracted MRSA while serving as a political prisoner in a US jail. Since Marc contracted MRSA in jail, he should be granted unconditional access to medical marijuana for healing purposes immediately, as should all medical marijuana patients in prison too.

Anything else is inhumane.

Tell all elected and appointed officials to stop the drug war and re-start the HEMP FOR VICTORY program.

How Weed Won The West(Full)

In the follow-up to his ground-breaking documentary 'American Drug War,' filmmaker Kevin Booth traces the fight against Federal drug regulation in the State of California. A public majority has spoken and said yes to states rights, allowing for the use of medicinal marijuana and opening up a new front in controversial medicinal 'dispensaries.'

While users herald the freedom of legally-licensed "weed," powerful forces at the DEA and law enforcement haven't given up their federal enforcement power yet. Many dispensaries have been raided, targeting their distribution of marijuana and challenging their authority to rise into legitimate business.

In the backdrop of this public dispute is the Dark Alliance-- where governments handle the volume of drug trafficking and work with cartels and drug dealers to manage the drug flow. Just like the prohibition of alcohol, drugs have thrived on their illicit appeal, and doomed millions of non-violent offenders to incarceration and prosecution. Now, those swearing by the healing power of medicinal marijuana as well as those who simply refuse to be outlawed by a hypocritical rogue government are daring to stand up and declare that the violence, corruption and uncontrolled flow of drugs is due to the prohibition of the substance, not the substance itself.

Big Pharma has put millions of non-"drug" users on hallucinogenic prescription drugs and instituted new forms of addiction and dependency, challenging our outdated notions that is only "illegal" drugs doing harm to our people.

The State of California, in a key position to assert its 10th Amendment rights under the Constitution, has pushed the issue to a tipping point. The bankrupt government hopes to capitalize on taxation of a legal and prosperous marijuana trade that could, ironically, fight off big government and offer free humanity new hope. Whether or not you love or loathe marijuana or the drug culture, everyone needs to fight for a more peaceful solution to the drug dilemma. How can we best manage the reality of drug use and minimize the harm to individuals and society at large? Clearly seventy years plus has proven that the drug war has the wrong approach.

In How Weed Won the West, filmmaker Kevin Booth dares to tackle these difficult questions. He infiltrates psuedo-legal California growers, investigates DEA raids on licensed dispensaries and even undertakes to sample the disputed 'medicine' for himself. He interviews radio host Alex Jones, former drug dealers, real-life gang members, legal-weed pitch men, activists and advocates to find the truth.Artical From-Infowars.com
