Dear Potential Supporter of California Cannabis Hemp and Health Initiative -  CCHHI:

I am Richard M. Davis, founder and curator of the U.S.A. Hemp Museum, soon to be opened in downtown Los Angeles, CA featuring my over 3,000 hemp items and artifacts I've collected over the last 40 plus years as a hemp activist, farmer, consumer and historian.


The year 2012 is the year for relegalizing Cannabis hemp and marijuana in California.  To this end we are offering the California Cannabis Hemp and Health Initiative (CCHHI) to the people of our State.  In California we have the right to change the law or create law by initiative, bypassing the government as was done with medical marijuana in 1996.  The role of the government is to protect liberty not control and harass the people over the historical and productive cannabis sativa plant – common name hemp.

We believe the people of California are ready to end the prohibition of industrial and recreational hemp for adults.  Relegalizing Cannabis will provide jobs, save family farms, help reverse global warming, provide biomass fuels (even synthetic gasoline), provide high protein foods, provide paper to protect our forests, provide fiber to replace the polluting cotton crop, provide herbal safe medicine (known since 1974 to kill cancer cells), provide building materials, plastics, paints and varnishes, and stress reducing relaxation.  As a carbon source, hemp can do anything fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas) can do.  Hemp’s potential for California could be hundreds of billions of dollars (paper for example produces $850 billion, and hemp could and should do this job.)  The reward on this initiative investment is beyond belief.  Hemp can produce an estimated 50,000 viable products.

Inalienable rights are those given by the Creator to individual citizens as stated in the Declaration of Independence.  Cannabis was also given to the people by the Creator, not to the government.  Hemp hero Dr. David Bearman has states: “Do we really need the government to protect us from the plants that grow in our garden.” Hemp hero Dr. Lester Grinspoon has said that not until everyone can legally obtain cannabis will patients be guaranteed access to their medicine.  Dr. William Courtney, Cannabis expert, stated: “…the National Cancer Institute has acknowledged that there are direct antitumor (anticancer) effects (from Cannabis).” He feels the fresh leaves and flowers eaten in quantity do the most to promote health.  Food, medicine, liberty, seeds, privacy, happiness and safety belong to the people.

We need your help to get CCHHI on the ballot.  We need to gather 805,000 signatures in the next four months.  The quickest way to do this is to ay petitioners.  At one dollar per signature, we think that one million dollars will enable us to do this.  Any part or all of this million you can give will help the people of California to step ahead in Cannabis research in the U.S.  Many other developed countries are already growing hemp, including Canada, all of Europe, China, Russia, Australia, etc.

Many of you have proved you know how to develop an idea and to make it profitable.  We would love your direct involvement.  We want to use your name, and your activism, as well as your financial help.  Fifteen years ago, Cannabis production was broken by initiative Prop. 215. This proves we can do this without the federal government, which had to respect the right of the people to invoke medical marijuana as a right, out of thin air.  Specifically, CCHHI invokes the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution sot there is no mistake where the power of the people to act comes from.  Help us and your grandchildren will thank you.

Hemp hero Jack Herer, father of CCHHI passed away in 2010.  We like to call this initiative the Jack Herer Hemp Initiative.  His vision for a world in hemp has started a revolution around the world to develop hemp.  The U.S. farmer is being left behind in the development of hemp, a crop I call the Trillion Dollar Crop.  Jack Herer from the start knew that for justice to be served non-violent offenders needed to be released and records whipped clean for hemp offenses.  Recently, Jack’s assertion that farming six percent of the U.S. could fuel our country was confirmed by research of five Swedish scientists.  This initiative gives the farmer the right to grow hemp.  This is taking back the freedom and liberty enjoyed by our founders.

For my part, I plan to open to the public the U.S.A. Hemp Museum of which I am curator and owner, so we can clearly see the economic, medicinal, nutritional potential of hemp.  I have supported this initiative in the past and support it even more today.  We need the jobs and energy that hemp farming will bring to California.  Beyond getting on the ballot is the campaign to November, 2012, which will demand even more resources.  The reward on this initiative investment is beyond belief.  The hemp resource can span 50,000 viable products.

For those of you with money, challenge your friends to match your generosity.  For those with no money, spread the word.  One purpose of the Jack Herer Hemp Initiative is to end Cannabis hemp prohibition.  The legislative analyst has estimated that the savings from releasing non-violent offenders will be in the “tens of millions of dollars’ annually.  Sign the initiative petition, collect signatures from work or home, and donate to the liberation of a plant.  With you we can make history, again.

Prohibitionist Capitalism

Prohibitionist capitalism - Make some products illegal while others are legal and let the competition flow. In the case of the drug war, make the effective hemp solution illegal so people will have to buy toxic food, energy, medicine, etc. Whatever we are being sold.  Greed is a powerful motivator for some.

Prohibitionist capitalism is the source of our economic, environmental and social problems. Stopping the drug war and restarting a crop financed Hemp For Victory program will solve our problems.

If hemp were legal, millions of now homeless could have grown plants in their back yards or closets, and sold them for use in any of 50,000 products that can produce at least 5 million jobs and a plethora of other benefits.

Yes, we can save ourselves with the hemp solution. Nobody should have to go through unnecessary horrors.

State High Court Denies Religious Freedom In Arizona

Though religious freedom is guaranteed in the constitution, in Arizona, if you use the plant known in religious circles as "Heaven's Gate", hemp, "there is no constitutional right to use marijuana."  Danny Ray Hardesty and his wife have a church that uses hemp as a prayer tool, like the Catholic church uses the rosary & wine. The Jewish religion also uses wine as part of their prayer service.  Both were able to do so even through the prohibition of alcohol on religious grounds.  

"At an evidentiary hearing regarding the religious use defense, Hardesty presented evidence that marijuana is the main religious sacrament of the Church of Cognizance" the court decision explains.  Yet, they lost Hardesty's appeal of a hemp charge based on religious freedom.

Although religious exercise may provide a valid defense under A.R.S. § 41-1493.01, in the circumstances of this case, Hardesty’s defense fails as a matter of law. We affirm the judgment of the trial court and vacate the opinion of the court of appeals.

Because Hardesty is asserting a FERA defense to criminal charges, the issue is whether a less restrictive statute or regulation would have excused the conduct for which he was convicted. For example, apart from the specific statutory exemption under A.R.S. § 13-3402(B), a member of the Native American Church charged with possession of peyote might be able to assert that a less restrictive governmental regulation than a total ban would serve the government’s interest. The analysis would be different, however, if the charged criminal use occurred while the defendant was driving a school bus.

Hardesty was convicted of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He made no argument concerning the drug paraphernalia charge, apparently tying his conviction on that charge to his religious use defense on the possession charge. Because Hardesty’s religious use defense fails, we affirm the conviction on the paraphernalia charge as well as the possession charge.

That can't be right, but it is.

"The unanimous decision in Arizona v. Hardesty rejected Danny Ray Hardesty's argument that he was entitled to employ the same defense allowed for peyote use in Native American sacramental rites." reported the AP.   He argued that the free exercise clauses of the Arizona and Federal Constitutions, Arizona’s Free Exercise of Religion Act(“FERA”), and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 protected him.

What is compelling the government to deny interaction with a non-toxic hemp plant?  Could it be greed, control, or just plain evil that is causing the government to take this stand between the Lord and His creations?

Presidents Jefferson and Washington grew hemp.  Why would they have in their intention making their plantations illegal?  How would that work? George Washington said "MAKE THE MOST OF THE HEMP SEED, SOW IT EVERYWHERE."  In modern times based on current law, Presidents Washington and Jefferson are criminals rather than founding fathers.

So let us get this straight because almost eleven years ago the people of Arizona, following California's Prop. 215 lead in 1996, voted hemp legal.  

There is no such thing as the freedom to pray in Arizona other than in ways prescribed by the court.  We can only address the Lord as the government sees fit. 

So much for separation of church and state.

Rachael Maddow On The 75th Anniv. Of The End Of Beer Prohibition

MSNBC-TV's Rachael Maddow did her usual brilliant job combining historical lessons with modern problems. In this piece she looks at the history of prohibition and it's relevance to the modern drug war, the dumbest idea in the history of the American government.

We should learn the lessons of the past.

President Elect Barack Obama and his nominated Secretary of Commerce, Gov. Bill Richardson, should first end all hemp prohibition and immediately institute a fair tax income dedicated to solving our problems now. Issue micro loans for small businesses and post all public job opportunities that come out of the new works programs.

A hemp division should be instituted in the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, etc. to help folks use hemp to empower their lives. From coordinating maximum crop growth to job opportunities to market delivery, the government stands to make a fortune supporting and taxing the nations number one cash crop.

Encourage President Elect Barack Obama and nominated Secretary of Commerce, Gov. Bill Richardson, to pull an FDR and end hemp prohibition now. Post your thoughts on hemp at www.change.gov . If so inclined, please have a 1/1/9 hemp liberation day party and upload yourself and friends voicing your support for hemp. Tell them to save money, end the war on drugs.

Shifting From The Industrial To The Information Age With Hemp

There is a simple way to complete the shift from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. Legalize, utilize and tax hemp.

For the toxic Industrial Age to florish, keeping people on toxic energy, medicine and environmental practices, hemp had to be illegal. This emerald Information Age can thrive off of the power found in the hemp plant.

We've made nature illegal and wonder why we have problems with our environment, economy and health care systems. Hemp was voted legal in 9 out of 10 states where it was on the ballot in 2008.

Real change is found in supporting the Will of the People and hemp is that Will. We pray that President Obama is telling the truth about a green revolution. He needs to pull an FDR and end hemp prohibition. Just do it. Radical but it will work.

Hemp is a biomass champion that scrubs the air of excess CO2 as it grows and burns cleans as biofuel. This one two punch can have a positive impact on low cost self produced clean energy and help reverse global warming.

Hemp's ability to make 50,000 plus new, non-toxic products could give the international community, as well as America, a much needed shot in the financial arm. JOBS, JOBS and BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES. Tax recreational hemp at 20% and he'll be having meetings about what to do with the extra money.

Effective hemp medicine, which has been used successfully for thousands of years, attacks disease at its cause, stress. Stress kills and medical grade hemp reduces stress.

A great hemp warrior, Los Angeles' Sister Somayah Kambui is in hospice at the LA VA hospice. In May she sent her lung tumor into remission , but it's reported that her sickle cell came back stronger 5 months later. As her caregivers gather around her, even though she worked on both the language and campaign of Prop 215, produced 10 annual LA marijuana marches, and did ground breaking research in the field of sickle cell and hemp (more than doubling her life expectancy), she is denied by law the ability to smell relaxing, stress relieving hemp smoke before she, if she, passes. With hemp, she has pulled back from death's door many times over the last 20-30 years. Like Peter McWilliams , she is sentenced to death by DEA stress.
